Begin with Baptism
In Baptism, parents and godparents profess the faith in which a child is baptized. The gift need not explain or add to the sacrament. A simple image, prayer book, or family keepsake can instead make room for remembrance and prayer as the child grows.
Choose a gift for the child
Catholic baptism gifts often become part of a child’s room: a Guardian Angel image, a Marian image, or a small devotional item chosen by the family. Keep the child’s age, the room’s light, and the available wall space in view. Choose a size that belongs in the room rather than filling it.
Honor the godparents’ continuing role
Godparents are asked to help the baptized person live the Christian life. A gift from a godparent can point toward that continuing relationship: an image for prayer, a note about the day, or a tradition of remembering the baptismal anniversary together.
Baptism and christening
